A single cask Caol Ila from the Exploration Series by Claxton's, distilled in 2015 on Islay. It matured for nine years in a fresh Pedro Ximenez sherry barrique and is bottled at 50%, the strength used across the series.
The cask brings sweet, fruity tones to the smoky, maritime character associated with Caol Ila.
The nose offers roasted seaweed, malt and barbecue notes. The palate is sweet, rich, full and creamy. The finish is rich, with sweet oak and biscuit flavours.
