Clermont Steep is a 5-year-old American single malt whiskey from James B. Beam Distilling Co., in a 75cl bottle at 47% ABV. It was developed by seventh-generation Master Distiller Freddie Noe after trials with 67 barley varieties.
The mashbill is 80% distiller's malt and 20% Vienna malt, fermented with the Beam family jug yeast and aged in new American oak barrels with a light level-1 char. It is the distillery's first American single malt.
Honey, Graham cracker and toasted oak lead the nose. The palate is creamy, with toffee, butterscotch and dried apricot, and the finish is long and peppery.
