This is a 47-year-old Clynelish from the Private Collection of Gordon & MacPhail, distilled on 1 March 1977 and matured in a refill American hogshead. It was bottled on 22 October 2024 from cask 2069 at its natural strength of 45.5%, without added colour or chill-filtration. The cask gave 96 bottles.
Aged leather, wax and honey meet red apple and banana, with a nutty, spicy side, an oily texture and a faint hint of smoke.
The nose is waxy and oily, with sweet orange. The palate is very oily and mouth-filling, with butterscotch, citrus, walnut, ginger and black pepper. The finish is long, with tropical fruit, old oak, wax and gentle spice.
