Clynelish – (Sutherland) 8 Year Old Thompson Bros. Batch 001 (48%)

This is an eight-year-old Clynelish, bottled as Batch 001 by the Thompson brothers of Dornoch, a few kilometres from the distillery. It is bottled at 48% ABV, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring. The nose brings maritime notes and bright citrus fruit, carried on a waxy, oily texture. On the palate there is a lively minerality alongside fine honey sweetness and an oily fullness. The finish is long, with a maritime presence and a lightly spiced note.
