Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Cured Oak is a limited-release Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace, bottled in bond at 50% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
What sets it apart in the Taylor range is the wood. The white oak staves were air-dried for 13 months, against the distillery's usual six, and the barrels were aged in Warehouse C. The mash bill is Buffalo Trace's low-rye Mash Bill #1.
The nose brings ripe apricot, honey, lemon oil and warm cedar. On the palate come toffee, dates and nougat, then cinnamon, vanilla, cherry and fig. The finish is long, dry and warming, with tobacco and dry oak.
