Old Charter Oak French Oak is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace, made from the distillery's Mash Bill #1 and matured in new charred barrels of French oak. It is the second release in the Old Charter Oak series, which looks at what oak from different countries does to the same bourbon.
This bottling comes from barrels obtained from France in 2007 and was aged twelve years before its release in 2019. It is bottled at 46% ABV.
The nose offers vanilla with hints of apricot, cherry and rose petal. The palate is thick and creamy, with maple syrup and oak, and the finish is long with chocolate and toasted oak.
