Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch is a Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery, bottled at 50% ABV. The range is a tribute to Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr., the 19th-century bourbon pioneer who helped shape the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. It uses Buffalo Trace's low-rye Mash Bill #1 and traditional sour mash methods. The barrels are seven years old and were taken from the sixth floor of the century-old brick rickhouses. The nose is caramel corn, butterscotch, toasted oak and brown sugar. The palate has salted caramel, dried fruit, cherry, black pepper and tobacco. The finish is long, warm and slightly dry, with spice and leather.
