Compagnie des Indes Uitvlugt 1997 Demerara Rum (70cl, 45%)

A single cask Demerara rum from the Uitvlugt distillery, distilled in 1997 and aged in an Armagnac cask. The distillery sat west of the Demerara River and used the Savalle still, which can produce very different distillates. It was bottled as part of the Charles edition. The nose is powerful and elegant, with citrus fruit, green tea and acacia blossom. The palate is very complex, with citrus fruit including grapefruit and blood orange. The finish is very balanced, with fruit, spice and harmoniously integrated wood notes.
