Compagnie des Indes Veneraguar 2005 13 Year Old Rum (70cl, 45%)

A 13-year-old rum from Compagnie des Indes, distilled in 2005 and bottled at 45% abv in a 70cl bottle. It is a small batch of five casks, blending three casks from Venezuela with two from Nicaragua. The nose brings vanilla and roasted notes with salted butter caramel. On the palate the butter caramel is rounded by spicy notes and liquorice. The finish is nutty, with white pepper and tobacco, and the rum stays complex and spicy yet accessible and easy to drink.
