Affinity is an experimental Compass Box bottling that pairs malt whisky with a portion of Calvados from Normandy. The 2019 release came in an edition of 6,028 bottles. The spirit was matured in custom French oak casks and French oak barriques, which give it a warm, fruity and spicy depth. The nose has stewed apple, vanilla, baked pear, soft oak and light spice. The palate is creamy, with apple, honey, biscuit, warm wood spice and the gentle sweetness of Calvados. The finish is medium to long, softly spicy and fruity.
