Compass Box Secrets of Smoke (2024)

Secrets of Smoke is a 2024 blended malt from Compass Box, built around different kinds of smoke, from soft wood smoke to fresh maritime notes, rather than raw peat. The malts are mainly from Islay and the islands, joined by a Highland component that adds creaminess and structure. Maturation took place in bourbon casks, refill hogsheads and a small amount of French oak. The nose is soft peat smoke, citrus oil, sea breeze, light spices, vanilla and ripe apple. On the palate come warm smoke, salty notes, pepper, vanilla, honey and subtle citrus. The finish is medium to long, smoky and dry, with a spicy note.
