Compass Box The Peat Monster Blended Malt (70cl, 46%)

The Peat Monster is a vatted malt from Compass Box, put together from whiskies that include Caol Ila, Ledaig, Laphroaig and Ardmore. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering or added colour. The whisky has been matured in 225-litre American oak barrels that previously held bourbon, a mix of first and second use. The nose is salty and peaty with a medicinal edge. On the palate come peat and oak with light spice and sweetness, and the finish is smoky and spicy, medium to long.
