The Peat Monster Cask Strength is the 2022 limited edition of Compass Box's smoky blend, bottled at 56.7% ABV. It is a blend of Islay and Island malts, including Laphroaig, Caol Ila and Talisker, with a small Highland component, matured in first-fill bourbon and refill casks. The 2022 label carries a detailed illustration of the Peat Monster.
The nose is heavy peat smoke, sea air, medicinal notes, lemon peel and charcoal. The palate is powerful and oily, with smoke, black pepper, sea salt, ash, vanilla, roasted malt and warm spices. The finish is long, smoky and slightly salty, with a hint of citrus.
