A 2021 vintage sparkling wine from Contratto, a house founded in Canelli in 1867. It is made in the Alta Langa in Piedmont and bottled with no dosage.
The blend is roughly 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay. Grapes are picked by hand and kept apart by vineyard, then fermented with native yeasts. The wine is riddled by hand and spends a minimum of 48 months on the lees in bottle, ageing close to five years before release.
It is creamy and rich, with fine, soft bubbles. Honey, apricot and sweet almond sit alongside lemon mousse and honeydew, and a salty, nutty note runs through to a long, fresh finish.
