Cotswolds – Single Malt Odyssey Barley 2015 (46%)

This is a single malt from the Cotswolds distillery in England, made from the Odyssey barley variety. It is described as the first whisky ever distilled there, using 100% locally grown, floor-malted barley. The spirit matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and used red wine casks, and it is bottled at 46% ABV. The nose brings honey and cream caramel, with light peach and apricot fruit and a hint of marzipan. On the palate, strong malt and oils mingle with sugar, plenty of spice and caramelised orange marmalade. The long finish ends on red fruits and a touch of molasses.
