This is a single malt from the Cotswolds Distillery in England, released at the end of 2018 as Founder's Choice. The whisky was selected by the founder, Dan Szor, and bottled at cask strength.
It is made from Odyssey barley grown on Cotswolds farms and malted at Warminster Maltings. It matured in American oak red wine casks that were shaved, toasted and re-charred, a process designed by the late Dr Jim Swan.
The nose brings dried hay, dark chocolate, almond butter and blackcurrant. The palate is warming, with peaches in syrup and iced gingerbread, and the finish is long and dry with spicy oak.
