Cutty Sark is a blended Scotch whisky first created in 1923, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was the first of the naturally coloured whiskies, and it is light in colour.
Most of the blend is grain whisky from North British and Invergordon, which binds together 40 different single malts, among them Highland Park, Glenrothes, Macallan and Bunnahabhain. It has a high proportion of Speyside malts. It arrived at the start of the 1920s, as cocktail culture was emerging.
The nose is light and gentle, with cut herbs, flowers, custard and hay. The palate is rounded, with mixed peels and plenty of barley, and the finish is warming and malty, with good length.
