A Pennsylvania rye whiskey from Mountain Laurel Spirits in Bristol, Pennsylvania, bottled at 45% in a 75cl bottle. The mash bill is 80% rye, 15% malted barley and 5% malted rye, with no corn.
It is pot-distilled and aged for at least six months in charred new oak quarter casks. The recipe was developed with Michigan State University's Artisan Distilling Program, and it revives the spicy pre-Prohibition style of Pennsylvania rye.
The nose is floral and spicy. On the palate, spice comes up front and at the back, with cinnamon through the middle, dried fruit, black cherry, tobacco, vanilla and oak.
