A Lowland single malt from Daftmill, a farm distillery run by the Cuthbert family, distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2020 at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It combines a first fill oloroso butt with four ex-bourbon barrels, all filled in June and July 2009. The Optic barley was grown on the farm, harvested in the last week of August 2006 and malted in Alloa in the summer of 2007. The nose is shy at first and rewards some time in the glass, with mango, cola cubes, dried figs and cigar boxes. The palate is spicy, with clootie dumpling, lemon zest and toffee, and the finish brings gingerbread, with the sherry casks to the fore.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
