Daftmill Summer Batch Release is a Lowland single malt from a farm distillery run by the Cuthbert family, bottled in 2020 at 46% in a 70cl bottle. Only 1,790 bottles were filled. The barley, a variety called Optic, was grown on the farm, and the spirit was distilled and filled in June and July 2009. It was matured in one first-fill ex-oloroso butt and four ex-bourbon barrels, and is the distillery's first release to combine bourbon and sherry casks. The nose is shy at first and rewards some time in the glass, with mango, cola cubes, dried figs and cigar boxes. The palate is spicy, with clootie dumpling and lemon zest, then toffee and butteries. The finish carries fiery gingerbread, with the sherry casks to the fore.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
