Darkness Benrinnes 11 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from Benrinnes, finished in Oloroso sherry octave casks. It was first aged in traditional oak, and the smaller casks bring deeper colour and flavour. It is bottled at 47.8%, non-chill filtered and of natural colour, in a 50cl bottle.
The nose has raisins, baked plums and polished mahogany, with brown sugar, nutmeg and espresso. On the palate come dark chocolate, fig jam and roasted walnut, then a malty backbone, sherry sweetness, earthy oak and a touch of peppery spice.
The finish is long and warming, with cocoa, clove and dried fruit fading to gentle oak dryness.
