Darkness Campbeltown 8 Year Old is a single malt distilled in Campbeltown and bottled at 47.8% in a 50cl bottle. It matured first in ex-bourbon casks, then was finished in hand-selected Oloroso sherry octave casks, smaller barrels that add flavour and colour. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose offers salted caramel, dark berries and damp oak, with leather, treacle and brine behind. On the palate it is oily, with toffee, sea salt and spiced raisins, then roasted nuts, chocolate and a touch of smoke. The finish is long, with smoky oak, dried fruit and sea salt.
