This is a limited edition 10 year old Craigellachie from Speyside, finished by Darkness in first-fill Oloroso sherry octave casks. Octave casks hold an eighth of a sherry butt, so the wood has a strong influence in a short time.
It is bottled at a cask strength of 57.6% in a 50cl bottle, non-chill filtered and with no added colour.
The nose is dark dried fruits, figs and raisins with toffee and a hint of leather. The palate is oily, with sherried raisins, candied orange peel, dark chocolate and charred oak. The finish is long and warming, with spice, nutty dryness and sweet sherry.
