Deanston 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 46.3% ABV in a 75cl bottle without chill filtration or added colour. It is made from unpeated malted barley and matured in first-fill and refill ex-bourbon barrels.
Deanston sits near Doune in Perthshire, in a former cotton mill, and generates all its own electricity from a hydroelectric turbine on the River Teith.
The nose combines fresh hay, malty cereal, creamy toffee and honeyed heather, with sweet oak, barley sugar and a little lemon oil. The palate is smooth and creamy, with honeycomb, vanilla, malt biscuit, toasted oak, ripe fruit and gentle nutmeg. The finish is crisp, with a lingering tingle of cloves.
