This is a 17 year old single malt from Macallan, a Decadent Drams bottling drawn from a single first-fill sherry hogshead and reduced to 53%. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
The sherry cask shows in a deep mahogany colour and a dense, oily texture. On the nose there is Oloroso, stewed raisins, dark honey and orange marmalade, with cinnamon and polished old wood. The palate brings dark cherries, ripe plums, cocoa, leather and toasted walnuts, and the long finish carries dark fruit compote, walnut liqueur, sweet tobacco and espresso.
