Delamotte Blanc de Blancs 2018 is a vintage Champagne from a house founded in 1760. It is blended from six villages of the Côte des Blancs: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize and Oger at 20% each, with Cramant, Chouilly and Oiry. Each adds its own part, from limestone minerality to structure and breadth.
The wine spent four years on the lees, and is rich and concentrated yet light in feel.
The nose opens on Williams pears and citrus, then hawthorn, fresh hazelnut and sweet spices. The palate starts with a touch of lemon and broadens into summer fruits and vineyard peaches, with roasted hazelnut crispness. The finish is very long.
