This is a ten-year-old single malt from Dingle, the independent distillery on Ireland's west coast. It is bottled without added colouring and without chill filtration.
The whisky matured in a mix of first-fill Bourbon casks (65%), Port casks (30%) and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks (5%). Bourbon casks supply vanilla and caramel, Port adds plums and cherries, and the small share of Pedro Ximénez brings dried fruit and dark syrup.
The nose offers ripe plums, dark fruit and malty sweetness, with vanilla, caramel and orange peel emerging in time. On the palate come juicy cherry, soft vanilla, a little ginger and sweet spice. The finish is long and creamy, with butterscotch, toffee and orange.
