A three-year-old rye from Distillery 291 in Colorado Springs, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company as Batch 2 of its USA series. It is a single-cask bottling at a cask strength of 66.6%, with 294 bottles in all, non-chill-filtered and natural colour.
Made only from Colorado rye, it matured in new, heavily charred American white oak and was finished in toasted aspen staves.
The nose is spicy and herbal, with rye bread dough, malt, ginger cake and coffee candy. The palate moves from warming spice to sweet coffee and toasted rye bread. A hint of chilli chocolate lingers in the finish.
