Doc Swinson's Alter Ego is a triple cask bourbon, bottled at 47.9% ABV (95.8 proof) in a 75cl-sized 750ml bottle. It takes its approach from Scottish and Irish distillers, for whom blending is central.
Straight bourbons are finished in Oloroso sherry, Pedro Ximenez sherry and Cognac casks, then blended and married in ex-Cognac foeders before bottling.
The finishing is said to add a dry nuttiness, subtle sweetness and an extended finish, while the bourbon itself stays in the foreground.
