Douglas Laing Big Peat 27 Year Old Black Edition (70cl, 48.3%)

A blended malt made entirely from Islay single malts, aged for 27 years and bottled at 48.3% in a 70cl bottle. Douglas Laing released it as a limited edition, and it is non-chill filtered and natural in colour. The Black Edition is the final release in the Big Peat age-statement trilogy, put together in small batches. The nose is dense, with smoked bacon, black liquorice, sea salt, tarry rope and old wood. The palate is full-bodied and dry, with charred oak, espresso bean, iodine, smoked fish and cocoa nibs. The finish is long and smoky, with peppered peat smoke, burnt caramel and maritime salt.
