Big Peat 12 Years Old is a blended malt Scotch whisky from Islay, bottled by Douglas Laing at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The 12 year old is presented as an archetypal Islay malt, with a smoky, phenolic character running from nose to finish.
The nose is clean, fresh, salty and oceanic, developing towards sweet malt dried over peat. On the palate come charred oak, chimney smoke, rock pools and summer tar. The finish is long and lingering, with brown sugar, bonfire ashes and a distinctly phenolic quality.
