Big Peat 12 Years Old is a blended malt Scotch whisky from Islay, bottled by Douglas Laing at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is bottled without added colouring and without chill-filtration.
The style is firmly Islay, built around charred oak, chimney smoke, rock pools and summer tar.
The nose is clean, fresh, salty and oceanic, moving to sweet malt dried over peat. The palate follows with charred oak and smoke, and the long finish brings brown sugar, bonfire ashes and a distinctly phenolic edge.
