Big Peat is a blended malt Scotch whisky from Douglas Laing, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is made only from Islay malts, among them Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen.
It is a small batch bottling, with no added colouring and no chill-filtration.
The nose is fresh, salty and clean, moving towards sweet malt dried over peat. On the palate come ashes, sweet tar, beaches and smoking chimneys. The finish is long and echoes the palate, with salty, tangy liquorice, smoke, bonfire ashes and a phenolic note.
