Big Peat is a blended malt from Douglas Laing, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is a small batch bottling made only from Islay malts, among them Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose opens fresh, salty and clean, moving to sweet malt dried over peat. The palate brings ashes, sweet tar, beaches and smoking chimneys. The finish is long and lingering, with salty, tangy liquorice, smoke, bonfire ashes and a phenolic quality.
