Douglas Laing's Big Peat The Thropaigeach Edition Finished in Caribbean Rum Casks (70cl, 48%)

This is the Thropaigeach Edition of Big Peat, an Islay blended malt from Douglas Laing, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It was made in celebration of Fèis Ìle 2024, with the classic Big Peat recipe finished in rum casks from the Caribbean. Big Peat is a marriage of Islay single malts only: Caol Ila for sweetness, Bowmore for balance, Ardbeg for a medicinal, earthy quality and Port Ellen for elegance. It belongs to the Remarkable Regional Malts range. The nose is peated barley, smoke, warming spice and toasted marshmallows. The palate is oily and thick, with flambéed banana, barbecued meat and honeyed malt. The finish has coal dust, charred pineapple and allspice.
