Elements of Islay Bw8 Islay Single Malt (50cl, 51.2%)

This is the eighth limited edition from Elements of Islay, the series from Elixir Distillers, and the Bw in its name points to Bowmore. It is a small batch of single malt bottled at 51.2% ABV in a 50cl bottle. The whiskies were distilled in 2001 and 2003 and aged for at least 16 years in ex-bourbon barrels and sherry butts. The nose is fruity and smoky, with citrus zest, tropical fruits and smoked fish. The palate is rich and creamy, with grapefruit, lemon and salted chocolate beside dry smoke. The finish is long and smooth, with chocolate and smoke lingering.
