Elements of Islay Sherry Cask (54.5%)

Elements of Islay Sherry Cask is an Islay blended malt Scotch whisky, bottled by Elixir Distillers at 54.5% ABV. It marries Islay single malt from the south coast with single malt from the north coast, matured in first fill and refill sherry butts and hogsheads. The southern malt brings dried fruit and dark chocolate, while the northern malt adds spicy, maritime notes and lemon oil. The nose recalls tobacco in an empty sandalwood cigar box, with Arbroath smokie, lemon oil, ginger root and a touch of menthol. The palate is rich, smoky and smooth, with candied orange in dark chocolate, candied ginger and muscovado syrup over date and ginger cake. The finish is long, sweet and smoky, with syrupy toffee and smoky black tea.
