Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon (75cl, 47%)

Elijah Craig Small Batch is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown, bottled at 47% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is named after the Reverend Elijah Craig, the 18th-century Baptist minister often credited in Kentucky lore with pioneering the ageing of whiskey in charred oak. The bourbon matures in new charred American oak barrels on the upper floors of Heaven Hill's rick houses, where wider temperature swings push the spirit further into the wood. The mash bill is 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley. The nose is caramel and vanilla with toasted oak and a hint of dried fruit. Caramel, vanilla and baking spice lead the palate, and the finish is warm, with lingering oak spice and caramel.
