Heaven Hill Phoenix Commemorative Release is a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 75cl bottle, made by Heaven Hill to mark its recovery from the 1996 fire in Bardstown.
The fire destroyed the original Bardstown distillery and several ageing warehouses. The family-owned company rebuilt, and the phoenix, a symbol of renewal, is the theme of this release.
The colour is rich amber with deep copper highlights. The nose brings caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, brown sugar and baking spice, with subtle dried fruit. The palate is full-bodied and sweet, with cinnamon, dark fruit and warm spice. The finish is long and warming, with lingering vanilla and caramelised sugar.
