Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Heaven Hill, introduced in 2020 and bottled at 47% in a 70cl bottle. It starts with fully matured Small Batch Bourbon, which is then finished in new oak barrels made from oak seasoned for 18 months and toasted rather than charred.
The nose shows toasted marshmallow, caramelised sugar and fresh oak shavings, with milk chocolate, cinnamon and singed orange peel. The palate is dense, with vanilla fudge, brown sugar and baked apple leading to nutmeg, clove and cocoa-dusted wood.
