This is Benrinnes 12 Year Old, bottled at a cask strength of 53.5% in a 70cl bottle as the Soldier release of The Macbeth Collection from Elixir Distillers. The collection launched in early 2023, with bottlings revealed over five years, each featuring characters from the play. Soldier belongs to the household series, and Oliver Chilton of Elixir chose Benrinnes to represent it. The whisky was matured in refill sherry butts, and 2,400 bottles were produced. Benrinnes uses a traditional worm tub condenser, which gives a full-bodied spirit. Tasters describe a well-balanced sherry character, with a gentle start that opens with finesse and spicy notes.
