Elsburn Rivesaltes Casks Batch 1 (70cl, 46%)

Elsburn Rivesaltes Casks is a single malt from the Hercynian Distilling Co., a family distillery in the Harz. This is Batch 1, and it matured entirely in casks that previously held Rivesaltes, a fortified sweet wine from the French Pyrenees. Rivesaltes is a vin doux naturel, made by adding alcohol during fermentation to stop it and keep the natural sweetness. In the whisky it leaves traces of honey, dried fruit and nougat. Bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, the batch is limited to 1,448 bottles worldwide.
