Elsburn The Harz is a German single malt from the Hercynian Distilling Co., a family-run distillery in the Harz that dates from 2002. It is made from 100% regional barley and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
The whisky was matured in first- and second-fill sherry hogsheads, which make up 87% of the blend, and first-fill bourbon oak casks, which make up the other 13%.
The nose brings apricot, red berries and tropical fruit. On the palate, sweet raisins and malt meet spicy oak, with vanilla, caramel and light chocolate. The finish is long and creamy, with vanilla and caramel.
