This is a 19 year old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled for End Of Message in a 70cl bottle. It comes from one of a pair of casks bought by a father for his two children.
The whisky was distilled on 15 July 2002 and matured throughout in a single Premier Grand Cru Sauternes cask from Chateau d'Yquem, rather than being finished in it.
The nose is dusty and sweet, with mature fruit, lemon and banana. On the palate the fruit sweetness continues alongside a liqueur-like richness, brine and black pepper. The finish dries slowly, rich and lengthy, with Islay peat showing at the end.
