Eth Rye by Eimverk (Floki) Cask 6 (50cl, 43%)

Eth Rye is an Icelandic rye whisky from Eimverk, sold under the Floki name. This bottling comes from cask 6 and is part of the distillery's rye project from 2019. The mash is entirely rye grown on the family farm in Holtum, and the spirit was distilled in Garðabær. It matured in a new 130-litre oak barrel kept in an unheated barn near the Hekla volcano, where it met Iceland's wide temperature swings. The fresh oak gives intense vanilla, pronounced wood spice and gentle sweetness. The whisky is 43%, chill-filtered and without added colour, and 580 bottles of 50cl were filled. The nose combines spicy rye, herbs, vanilla, honey and oak, with green pepper and a little orchard fruit. The palate is dry and creamy, and the finish is medium, spicy and oaky with liquorice and vanilla.
