A straight rye whiskey from Ezra Brooks, a brand that dates back to the 1950s. It is distilled and bottled in Kentucky by Lux Row Distillers, at 49.5% ABV (99 proof), in a 750ml bottle.
The whiskey is made from a high-rye mash bill and aged in new, charred American oak barrels.
The nose is peppery and spicy, with cinnamon, orange zest, honey, vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate come clove, nutmeg and black pepper, followed by caramel, brown sugar and a little dried fruit. The finish is long and dry, with baking spice and oak.
