The whisky spent its first nine years in an ex-bourbon barrel before moving to a first fill, heavily toasted, medium charred barrel for the rest of its maturation.
The nose is rich, spiced and sweet, with cranberries, honey, wood polish, damson jam and cedar shavings. On the palate come black cherries in chilli oil, toasted sunflower seeds, dark chocolate and spiced grapefruit.
