Finlaggan Old Reserve is a single malt Scotch whisky from Islay, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is very pale in colour.
The nose opens with concentrated peat smoke, mushrooms blackened on a grill and charcoal, much like a bonfire, over a plain layer of sugary malt. A few drops of water bring out lemon peel and green apple. The palate is medium-bodied, with rice vinegar, sour sweets, fresh green moss and a bitter smokiness.
The finish is long and bittersweet, close to a Margarita, fading to light, damp, smoky ash.
