Flóki Single Malt Beer Barrel Finish 3 Year Old (70cl, 47%)

This is a three-year-old Icelandic single malt from Eimverk, finished in a barrel that previously held beer from an Icelandic craft brewery. First released in 2019, it is a single cask bottling, and this one was bottled in 2023 at 47%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The whisky first matured in American oak casks that had held Flóki Young Malt, at the foot of the Hekla volcano, before the beer barrel finish. Eimverk is a family distillery founded in 2009 and uses only Icelandic barley. The nose combines malt and caramel with a subtle hint of hops. The palate is sweet malt with fine bitter notes. The finish is long and warm, with fresh herbs and a touch of toasted wood.
