Floki Young Malt Sheep Dung Smoked Reserve is an Icelandic single malt from Eimverk, made from 100% Icelandic barley. The barley is smoked over sheep dung, a fuel that has long been used in Iceland for heating and for preserving food.
The spirit matured in a virgin oak cask, a new barrel with no earlier fill. This is a single cask bottling from cask 51, filled in 2023 at 47% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose offers thyme, chamomile tea, honey and sticky tobacco, moving into spicy smoke, softwood and a little caramel. On the palate, strong smoke meets savoury broth seasoning, herbal sweets, liquorice and aniseed biscuit, with bitter cocoa, toasted oak and pepper. The finish is medium, with smoke, herbs and roasted notes.
